Micro-Living Atlas 2026: the major cities are short of 73,500 micro-apartments
Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart are short of around 73,500 micro-apartments. Around 60,500 have been built there in total since 2010. These are the findings of the Micro-Living Atlas 2026 by BelForm and bulwiengesa, presented at Expo Real. The gap begins with people moving in: anyone arriving for a job, training or studies first needs somewhere to live for a while.
It is exactly this need that our 60 micro-living apartments in Kaufering, completed in 2019, were built for.
